Our Story, 1986 – 2026

Date is October 1986 — The Seeds Are Sown
It started with my mum, Pamela Blowers, and a diagnosis that changed everything. Determined to live a cleaner, chemical-free life, she went looking for a face cream without the nasties — and when she couldn’t find one she trusted, she made her own. The original Avocado Deluxe Face Cream was born in her Whangārei kitchen, and honestly, none of us knew it was the start of something that would last forty years.

Late 1980s — Pam’s Herbs & the Market Stall Days
Back then we were “Pam’s Herbs” — Mum, her herbs and spices, and a fold-out table at the Parua Bay Craft Shows. Each jar she sold was topped with a single dried viola flower, by hand, every time. That little flower is still part of who we are.

2003 — Passing the Torch
After months learning at Mum’s side, I took over as Managing Director. Big shoes to fill. I brought us online with our first website and earned our BioGro organic certification — proud moments, but I never forgot whose recipe I was building on.

2012 — Back to Our Roots
We tried going bigger for a while. It didn’t sit right. So we made the call to scale back down, choose quality over quantity, and settle back into our own purpose-built workshop at 57 Memorial Drive, Parahaki — a home that’s felt right ever since.

2021 — Standing by Our Standards
We moved to a self-certified model, staying true to our 100% natural promise while keeping our prices fair for everyday New Zealanders. Still a pioneer, still stubborn about doing it properly.

2025 – Pam lost her almost 4oyr battle with Cancer and passed away on the 1st of July 2025. I will never under-estimate the power of clean living and how t

his gave us another 40 more years with this amazing, generous women.

January 2026 — Coming Home to You We made the difficult decision to step back from retail stockists and bring things back to where it all began — our factory shop on Memorial Drive. It means slower, more personal service, and the freshest batches we’ve ever made.

October 2026 — Forty Years
Forty years of honest, handmade skincare. We’re still New Zealand’s best-kept secret, still family-owned, still made by hand — and still, at the heart of it, exactly what Mum set out to build all those years ago.
